How it's started

I always felt there’s something about certain places that makes me feel bad. Shut me up in an ordinary flat full of poor quality furniture and artificial materials, a flat facing south or west or with LED or glow-tube pendant and you can be sure I would end up crying. Hard to believe but that’s exactly how my passion for interior design was born. It took me a while to understand what I like. What my style is. What to choose and what to avoid.  I created Observatory to share it all with you.

I’m Marta, an interior design addict. Polish by birth, Japanese by heart. In love with everything that has modern lines, is vintage, wabi sabi and smells cedar. Owner of a little apartment designed by herself, that is by many said to feel extra cozy and by others resemble a Japanese house. Graduate of Japanese studies on Warsaw University, marketing and public relations on WSFiZ and interior design on Warsaw based Studio Forma. Mom to a lovely little Pola and two exceptional sausage dogs Maya and Molly (wild at heart).

Everything is designed

It's no surprise that the furniture or clothes we buy have been designed by someone. But have you ever thought that a pavement, a washing bowl or obstetric forceps also have their own design story? Everything is designed.

Telling stories

Every piece of furniture and every object in this interior tells its own unique story. They have been carefully selected and set by the owner. Nothing is accidental here.

Japanese by heart

Japanese culture has been influencing minds of European designers for two centuries now. That's what my passion for interior design is about, Japanese influences in western design and a taste for the modern in Japan.
